70's female rockers The Runaways have returned to pop culture recently,  due to the movie based on singer Cherie Currie's autobiography “Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway”.   Not only bringing attention to the band, the movie brought Lita Ford and Joan Jett back together, after years of non-communication.

Now, Lita - who's getting ready to release a new album, 'Living Like a Runaway' - says  she's hoping for a reunion of her old band The Runaways next year.   In an interview with Metal Underground, Ford said,

"I would if it was the Runaways.  There's all kinds of lineups you can have and all kinds of wonderful musicians. Unfortunately Sandy's not around anymore, the drummer, and she was such a huge part of the band. I don't know if Joan Jett would do the band without Sandy. I would, I love Sandy and nobody will ever take her place, but there's still me and Joan and Cherie. The Runaways had a couple of bass players and they were both great. I would love to do the Runaways again, maybe next year, 2013 would be a good time."

Indeed it would.  With female fronted bands like Halestorm, Evanescence, and The Pretty Reckless making headway in the rock world...maybe the time has finally come for the Runaways.  I wonder if they'll Replace Jack & Coke and corsets with Geritol and Depends on the tour rider?
