Lars Ulrich Wants Metallica to Tour With U2 and Green Day

Metallica, U2 and Green Day are three of the biggest bands in the world in different genres. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich reveals in a new interview that he’d like the three titans to team up for a tour, and apparently the other bands could be up for it, as well.

In an interview with MTV News, Ulrich says, “U2 came to San Francisco two summers ago and we ended up having a lot to drink with them and Green Day following a dinner. I was told in the wee morning hours following this outing that members of U2, Green Day and Metallica agreed to tour together. We haven’t talked about it since, but speaking for myself I’d be very up for that.”

Both U2 and Metallica have had some cool stage setups on past tours, and it would be interesting to see what sort of massive presentation the bands would come up with. A tour of that magnitude would have no problem selling out stadiums, but the logistics of bringing together three superstar bands could be an obstacle too difficult to overcome.

Something a little more realistic might be Metallica playing the Glastonbury festival. Ulrich told MTV UK it looks like it would be a fun night out. “We’ve been fortunate enough to play every other festival on this planet numerous times, so Glastonbury is the only one that’s eluding us,” Ulrich said. “There’s such a vibe and it’s maybe the most quintessentially English festival.”

Ulrich was in England promoting Metallica’s recently released movie ‘Through the Never.’
