Kid Rock Conjures Lynyrd Skynyrd & Buckcherry Disappoints at Bossier City Concert

Kid Rock, Buckcherry and Hellbound Glory rolled into Bossier City's CenturyLink Center on Wednesday (Feb. 13) for a little pre-Valentine's Day rock n' roll.

Was the show worth the wait? If you paid for a ticket, Kid Rock made it worth the money. Here's what I thought of each band's performance.

Hellbound Glory

Hellbound Glory was a good fit and is a pretty decent Americana band. I'm an Americana Rock fan, though a bit partial. I can't say they were exciting, but how can you be when the crowd doesn't care to watch you? They gave it their all, so for a virtually unknown band with no familiar songs, not bad.

As for the band's future, I have no clue. They could be the next Black Keys, or the next no-hit wonder.

Buckcherry

Now, let's talk about Buckcherry.

Josh Todd was a douche for not knowing what f___ing city he was in. Pro-tip, Josh: before you hit the stage, ask someone how to say the name of the city you're playing. It's pronounced bo-shur, not boss-ee-a.

I'm going to take a guess here, but Josh Todd and Keith Nelson are not big fans of each other. (Is that 'we're in it for the money' I hear playing somewhere in the background?) Keith is a kick-ass guitarist, but he stayed the hell out of the spotlight and away from Josh, with the exception of two photo-ops.

On the plus side, Buckcherry went through the hits and that is why we went, so I can't complain. However, it felt like they were phoning it in a bit.

In the end, Buckcherry is the result of bad heroin and the knowledge that Keith and Josh are nothing as solo artists, but are stars as Buckcherry. So, they tolerate each other. Chances of this imploding? I'd say 80 percent within the next three years unless rehab is introduced.

Kid Rock

Kid Rock. What can you say? He is equal parts Jimmy Buffet, Sammy Hagar and Bob Seger. Last night, he included the feeling of Lynyrd Skynyrd to the show.

No matter what you may think, Kid Rock plays to his fanbase (adults, not kids) and you walk away with the distinct feeling that he cares about the people who paid for their ticket.

He has a hell of a catalog of music, helps Shriners Hospitals for Children (a local charity and something that is near and dear to my heart) and has his own line of Jim Beam. If that wasn't enough, he's endorsed by Harley-Davidson

The only part that was odd was the last encore. Not quite sure why we should be excited about the New Year, but the balloons and confetti were fun.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give Hellbound Glory a 5, Buckcherry a 5 and Kid Rock an 8.
