LSU Vice President for Agriculture, Bill "Buzzkill" Richardson says all the excitement being generated by the possibility of the LSU Ag Center becoming the site that Louisiana grows its medical marijuana on, are a bit premature.  Lawmakers gave both LSU and Southern universities the right of first refusal on 'The Patch' after lawmakers passed legislation allowing for the dispensing of the drug here in our state.  However, until school officials know for certain what rules and regulations are going to be in place for the parties involved in the production and medical distribution of the drug, LSU has adopted a wait-and-see attitude. "Mainly dude, we're all chilling, y'know? Enjoying some tasty waves and some killer buds, right?"

The reason LSU and others are leery to fully commit at this point is the fear that they will lay out the money to produce the crops and find that the laws or regulations governing the point of sales, ability to market, and percentage of return to the original investors make it difficult to recoup their money. "Those are some mighty fat stacks of cash to lay down on a bogus business plan dude. Losing our cash in a crash would totally harsh my buzz." Richardson said, noting that some estimates to produce the crop are as high as $15 million dollars, and even if they did decide to produce it, nothing would be ready to market for at least a year. "WHOA NELLY!! Slow down your organic pizza/espresso/reggae new-and-used outlet dreams and instead consider the lowly ant.......................wow..........pizza sounds really good right now, right? Aren't adult coloring books AWESOME?

Several bills have been introduced in the current session that address the regulations Richardson and others have concerns about, but until it is a done deal, LSU has no plans to begin construction on a new facility, fearing they would wind up with a state of the art rice farm, something they really don't need. "I'm not gonna get a mortgage on a place designed for the cartel, only to find out a week later I'm now working for Snap, Crackle, and Pop! NO WAY JOSE'!"
