It was a flash-fried getaway that scalded the fate of a Nebraska couple suspected of stealing leftover cooking grease from a local restaurant. Police in Lincoln stopped the man and wife driving a red pickup with a big, black tank in the bed, believing it contained grease siphoned from a bin outside a Lincoln restaurant. After catching a whiff of what resembled “old, stale French fries,” police arrested the two on suspicion of larceny, and say they believe the caper couple may be related to a string of cooking grease thefts in the area that robbed two Pizza Huts, a Taco Bell and a Dairy Queen of about four-thousand pounds of used cooking grease.
