Geek’d Con Announces A Legendary Comic Book Guest For 2016
Last summer, Geek’d Fever swept the Ark-La-Tex. It was great to see everyone realize that we’re all a little geeky. Geek’d Con saw thousands of local geeks make their way to the Shreveport Convention Center over three days in August.
The dates for Geek’d Con 2016 were announced almost immediately after the conclusion of that weekend, this year’s show will be August 19th-21st. It will again be held at the Shreveport Convention Center. It also sounds like Geek’d Con is expanding too, dates for an event in Tyler, TX have been announced for June, and it sounds like there might be more coming.
But back to Geek’d Con in Shreveport, earlier this week the first 2016 guest was announced, and it’s comic book legend George Perez!
The creator titanic characters like The New Teen Titans (including characters Raven, Starfire, and Cyborg), Deathstroke, Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Taskmaster, and more. He’s also responsible for the art behind some of the biggest story lines in DC and Marvel over the last 30 years. Stories like Infinite Crisis and The Infinity Gauntlet.
By the way, The Infinity Gauntlet is the template for the continuing story in all of the current Marvel films (think Infinity Stones and Thanos).
Perez had some of the great runs as a writer as well. With some of the best story arcs that Wonder Woman and Silver Surfer have ever enjoyed. He has also written for Batman, The Avengers, Spider-Man, Superman, and X-Men.
Ticket are not on-sale yet, but we do know that ticket prices will remain the same as last year. As for the other possible Geek’d Con events, we’ll keep you up-to-date as best we can!
