With the busy summer season approaching, refineries are shutting down for maintenance to prepare for the expanded workload and the result of shut downs is a spike in our price at the pump for gas. Not to worry though, says AAA spokesman Don Redman, prices are currently averaging $1.58, and even with the increase are still expected to stay well under $2.00 a gallon. Some may grumble, but we are still enjoying prices averaging $2.00 a gallon less than we paid not so long ago. Still, since every penny counts in today's economy, fill up now, while the average gallon of gas in Louisiana is $1.58.
