After the announcement that Rivers Cuomo and ‘Psych’ creator Steve Franks were working together on a sitcom based on the Weezer frontman’s real-life experiences, Cuomo took a step back, saying there were no guarantees the show would get picked up. Now, it appears Cuomo’s precaution was all for naught, as Fox has officially ordered the show’s pilot.

Titled ‘DeTour,’ the show’s plot reportedly embellishes on Cuomo’s own life, documenting a rock star’s difficult decision to leave the spotlight in order to “rediscover the parts of his life he missed while he was busy becoming a massive success.” Specifically, the protagonist leaves the stage to go back to college, similar to Cuomo’s own hiatus from Weezer during which time he attended Harvard.

While we now know the show will see the light of day, only time will tell if Franks will work the same kind of magic he did on ‘Psych,’ which ran for eight years – let alone whether or not Cuomos will be able to mine eight seasons worth of content from his more than 20-year career. Here's hoping!
