First they said he couldn't. Then they said he could. After an evening of bad press and ridicule on social media, the NCAA reversed itself Saturday night and rule that LSU star running back Leonard Fournette will be allowed to auction the jersey he wore Saturday against South Carolina, then donate the money to victims of that state's recent flooding.

Fournette announced in a post-game interview that he wanted to auction his jersey, but was initially shot down by NCAA officials, who said that would violate a number of rules governing college athletes.  "I would like to auction off my game jersey as is to the highest bidder to help out the relief efforts," Fournette said. "People of Louisiana not only care, but know firsthand what you in South Carolina are going through."

Saturday's game, originally scheduled to be played in Columbia, was moved to Baton Rouge due to damage in and around the South Carolina campus due to Hurricane Joaquin.

Fournette ran for 158 yards - including an 87 yard TD jaunt - in LSU's 45-24 win over the Gamecocks.
