The Fish Fry held today to support 32-year-old Bossier Sheriff's Sgt. Barrett Lovell raised $4,440, all of which goes directly to help him in his fight against cancer.

Sheriff's Lt. Bill Davis says Cypress Inn Catering filled 570 plate orders during the three-hour span, and proceeds from food sales and donations will help defray living costs and additional medical expenses for Barrett as he continues treatment at MD Anderson in Houston.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington says he was very pleased with the turn-out.

"Very impressive support!" Sheriff Whittington said in a news release. "While Barrett is going through a rough time with chemotherapy right now in Houston, he can know that folks back here at home are supporting him and lifting him up in prayer. Get well soon!"
