Disturbed singer David Draiman has come out in support of Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic. Draiman has delivered a lengthy Twitter dialogue that invokes the tragic 2004 slaying of Dimebag Darrell Abbott as reason why rock artists have the right to defend themselves when concertgoers rush the stage.

As we’ve been reporting heavily over the past couple of days, Blythe was arrested in Prague, Czech Republic, earlier this week on apparent manslaughter charges stemming from a 2010 incident. The Lamb of God frontman allegedly pushed back a concertgoer who jumped onstage, which resulted in the fan falling off the stage. The 19-year-old man apparently later died of the injuries he sustained as a result of the fall.

When asked by a fan on Twitter about the situation, Draiman responded in a series of Tweets, mentioning the Dimebag tragedy in defense of Blythe’s alleged actions. Here is the text from Draiman’s multiple Tweets combined into one paragraph:

“[Randy] didnt ‘slaughter’ anyone. The kid jumped on stage and started a brawl, and Randy defended himself. That his life was lost in the process is truly unfortunate, but Randy is my friend and he’s no murderer. I feel for the child and for the family and for Randy, but you have to understand that ever since Dimebag Darrell was assaulted, shot, and murdered on stage by a ‘fan,’ all of us have been very defensive/cautious of anyone jumping up on stage. I’m not saying that it’s OK, or justified, or anything like that, only that it’s an unfortunate/tragic set of circumstances, and that I know Randy’s intention was not to kill the kid. That’s my opinion. I’ve heard yours. That is all.”

As reported earlier today, Blythe was granted his release from a Czech jail with the agreement to pay $200,000 bail. It is unclear whether he was freed today (Saturday) or if he’ll have to wait until Monday when the banks open. For more on that news, click below:
