DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle congratulates two of his deputies on their recent TOP COPS awards.

Sergeants Adam Jones and David Boudreaux were recognized by the National Association of Police Organizations for their efforts in rescuing a child involved in an Amber Alert.

They, along with other members of the FBI Task Force in Shreveport, received a tip that 9-year-old Caitlyn Williams and her abductor -- her uncle, Jesse Williams -- were at a Days Inn Hotel in Bossier City. They notified hotel staff and were able to get into the room where Williams was hiding.

During a struggle with agents, Williams was able to get ahold of a gun and fire two rounds. One of them struck him in the head, killing him. The young girl was rescued thanks to the agents' bravery.

All the agents involved, including Jones and Boudreaux, were honored with TOP COPS awards at the NAPO's 23rd annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., a few days ago.
