Hey look! Dave Grohl is in the news again! No, really!

Seems like Mr. Grohl has a harder time staying away from the limelight (the universal dream) than he does getting in it these days. Still in the midst of a promotion onslaught for the new Foo Fighters album, 'Sonic Highways,' and HBO series of the same name, Grohl had a chat with NME magazine recently and had a few things to say about looking back too often, specifically about the band's 1995 debut self-titled album.

"F--k, man! I don’t like it when a band’s tour is just to play one past record. I f--king hate that," he said. "It’s presumptuous. It’s lazy. But going in and re-recording an album, just to piss everyone off? I think that’s a sh--ty idea! I don’t get why people do that. We’ve already written that [record] off. I mean, I don’t mind playing a lot of those old songs just to revisit."

"The best way to celebrate our 20th anniversary isn’t to focus on 20 years ago, but to focus on the last 20 years," he adds, "meaning two years ago and six years ago and eight years ago." He is adamant that no Foo Fighters show will be made up of playing an old album as a whole, but also admits he did actually think about re-recording that first album.

"At one point I thought, 'You know what would be really funny? To re-record the first Foo Fighters record as the band we are now' -- 'cos the first record isn’t the Foo Fighters, it’s just me." He says he did, in fact, put that idea on the table to 'celebrate' their 20th anniversary, but the response was less than thumbs up. "Taylor [Hawkins] was like, 'Are you out of your f--king mind?! That’s the worst idea ever! People would f--king hate it!' And Pat [Smear] said, 'That’s exactly why we should do it!'"

Would you like to hear 'Foo Fighters' re-recorded with the current lineup, or do you think it's perfect as-is? Let us know in the comments!
