Leave it to the ever-cool Dave Grohl to remain grounded in the midst of all the Grammys’ star-studded excess and still opt to consume his celebratory drinks by way of a good, old-fashioned red Solo cup.

The Foo Fighters leader could be seen really digging the Lionel Richie tribute at the Grammys last night (Feb. 15). Richie is MusiCares’ Person of the Year, and just the night before, Grohl celebrated the singer’s career with a cover of “You Are” at a pre-Grammy event. During Richie’s performance at the award ceremony, Grohl looked liked he was having just about the best time ever. With a Solo cup in hand, and that hand in the air, Grohl swayed and sang along to “All Night Long.” If you missed the terrific moment, you can see a clip and photo below:

But before the Grammys were even underway, Grohl and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band helped kick things off in style with a second-line march down the Red Carpet. Grohl, Trombone Shorty and the whole New Orleans jazz ensemble (which have collaborated together on numerous occasions, including Sonic Highways) led the procession into the Staples Center:
