Many a Marvel fan are on pins and needles until the Season 2 premiere of Netflix’s Daredevil, though we’ve always had to wonder if Marvel’s movie and TV branches would bridge the gulf in time for Avengers: Infinity War. Even Charlie Cox doesn’t think himself safe from Marvel recasting Daredevil for the movies, but nobody panic just yet.

Folks, you’ve been had. A great many websites will try to sell you on the dire nature of Charlie Cox’s most recent comments to ET Online, in which the Daredevil star seems to suggest that Marvel might want a different actor in the red suit, should Daredevil even be drafted into the Infinity War:

Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things. So even if the character were to appear in that film, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I would appear in that film. I will pick a fight with the guy that they choose.

Granted, we’ve long-documented the disparity between Marvel’s TV and movies sides, operating on some loose faith that the third (and technically fourth) Avengers movie would act as an all-encompassing beacon of (at least) 67 characters. Charlie Cox has no direct knowledge of the matter however, nor would his contract necessarily confirm whether or not Marvel calls his Daredevil up to the big leagues, and you can hear him admitting as much before and after the above quote.

Not to mention, why in the wide world would Marvel elect to use the character at all, if not to incorporate the actor its entire fanbase will have spent years following at that point? Relax, guys. We can’t promise you Daredevil will fight the Infinity fight, but we can sure as hell reassure you Charlie Cox didn’t mean to start a panic.

In the meantime, check out the latest trailers for Daredevil Season 2, coming March 18.
