Inaugural Chicago Open Air Festival Set for July

There will soon be another music festival to add to your "must-see" list, as Danny Wimmer Presents have announced that the inaugural Chicago Open Air festival will take place in the Windy City the weekend of July 15-17.

Given that Danny Wimmer Presents have already backed such popular festivals as Rock on the Range, Aftershock, Louder Than Life, Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Rock Allegiance, Fort Rock, North Invasion and other major rock events, there is a pretty solid chance that Chicago is about to get a musical treat.

Though a lineup for the event has yet to be announced, the organizers have revealed that more than 60 rock music acts will take part in the three-day festival. And, like some of the other Danny Wimmer Presents festival events, this one will come with an outdoor Gourmet Man Food and craft beer village, making for a truly entertaining weekend for sights, sounds and taste.

The village of Bridgeview will host the concert at Toyota Park. Mayor Steven Landek stated, "Chicago Open Air is the next step in fulfilling that promise to our citizens. Danny Wimmer Presents has a proven track record of producing successful events in MLS stadiums that attract attendance from around the world. This is a great opportunity for our city as we continue to benefit from this investment."

Festival producer Danny Wimmer added, "Chicago has a deep history with rock ‘n’ roll, from the pioneers of Chicago blues, to the icons of modern rock that call this place home, to the incredible live experiences that have happened here. I’ve been looking at the Chicago market for quite some time. With the rich music history, the incredible craft beer culture and the celebrated Chicago food scene, I couldn’t be more excited to debut the 3-day Chicago Open Air festival this July. We’re excited to work with Mayor Steven Landek, who’s very supportive of developing arts and entertainment in the area, and bringing more large scale events to the stadium."

The first headline band will be revealed on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 5PM CT, just as discounted early bird general admission tickets become available for the first time. The full lineup of music acts, as well as the Gourmet Man Food and specialty beverage listings, will be revealed on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 5PM CT via the festival's website.
