With the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's recent ruling to expand separate playoffs for public and private schools to even more sports, representatives from a number of schools met earlier this week to discuss forming a rival league.

According to WGNO in New Orleans:

"Representatives from 13 schools and two school districts met Monday night in Baton Rouge for a detailed discussion on forming a high school sports league that would rival the Louisiana High School Athletic Association."

A number of both private and parochial schools are unhappy with a vote by LHSAA principals that increase the current split playoff structure to include not only football, but basketball, softball, and baseball.

The WGNO report continues:

"The meeting included representatives from Calvary Baptist, Catholic Baton Rouge, Dunham School, Episcopal, Evangel, Country Day, Newman, Parkview Baptist, St. Louis, St. Michael’s, St. Thomas More, Tuerlings Catholic, and University Lab. The meeting also included representatives from the Zachary school district, and the Central Baton Rouge school district."

Most conspicuous in their absence from the meeting was private school athletic powerhouse John Curtis of Baton Rouge.
