Sometimes Mother Nature is a real mother.  The traumatized residents of southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana are dealing with one of the worst weather disasters in U.S. history.  Now there's a chance that Mother Nature could deal them a second blow. (No pun intended.)

Hurricane Irma is now a Category 3 storm with winds topping out at 120 mph.  It's east of the Lesser Antilles and hurricane watches are posted for the Leeward Islands including Antigua & Barbuda, St. Kitt's & Nevis, and St. John's.  It's projected path has it going over Puerto Rico and eastern Cuba.

After that, the forecast gets a little murky.  Depending on the prevailing weather pattern in the U.S. at the time, Irma could turn north and head east of Florida, it could strike a direct blow to Florida, or it could continue west into the Gulf Of Mexico.

Most models have Irma turning north before heading into the Gulf.  If that happens it would certainly bring a sigh of relief to those reeling from the effects of Hurricane Harvey.  For Mother Nature to strike the Gulf Coast again would really be hitting below the belt.
