The Red River is slowly receding, but we will have high water in our area for several more weeks.

Water is still covering all of Hamel Memorial Park and the Stoner Park along with the frisbee golf course. It's sad to see because there will be so much work to be done once the water is gone.

I also noticed a horrible stench around Stoner Park and the frisbee golf course. The best way to describe it is to imagine the smell of dead fish. That's what it reminds me of.

There is some good news. The Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport is back open. But the Parkway remains closed in both directions between Island Park and 70th Street. The Parkway is also closed for southbound traffic near the railroad bridge just north of Stoner. Part of the roadway has broken up and crews are still making repairs.
