Celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day this Weekend!
National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is this weekend and Caddo Parish Animal Services is hoping that you’ll celebrate with them! Technically, the day is this Sunday, April 30, but since it’s easier to celebrate on a Saturday, that’s when we’re doing it!
As the crazy horse lady on the radio and lover of all things furbaby, I work hard to let our listeners know that there are pets in shelters waiting for that special someone to take them home. That’s why I started Bristol’s Babies where we highlight a new shelter animal each week that’s available for adoption.
I’ve never understood purchasing a dog. Why would you support breeding when we already have so many pets in need of families? I understand some people looking for hunting dogs or certain characteristics in a breed for a family pet, but a lot of purebred animals can be found at shelters. I definitely urge you to ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ every day, not just this Saturday.
The Caddo Parish Animal Shelter is inviting the public to come meet what could be your future family member this Saturday at 1500 Monty Street, Shreveport, LA 71107. The event is free and will run from 10am – 2pm. Local animal rescues will be onsite as well. CPAS is offering discounted adoptions this Saturday and the event will also feature exhibits, activities, food, things for the kids to do and prizes!
