Puff’s Playlist: 5 Albums That Changed My Life

My obsession with music started when I was a kid. When I was 5, I would listen to the radio non-stop for hours on end. I listened to everything from the oldies station to Top 40 to rap and everything in between. Then I heard Motley Crue for the first time and it absolutely changed my life. That day, I instantly became a metal head. So, below, is a list of the most influential albums of my life. Be sure to share yours in the comment section.

Today is the 19th Anniversary of the Pantera Classic ‘Great Southern TrendKill’

Holy Crap, do I feel old...it just dawned on me that 19 years ago today Pantera released the 'Great Southern Trendkill', which personally was one of my favorite Pantera albums. To me, it is one of the most brutal metal albums of all time! From 'Suicide Note Pt. I & II' to 'Drag the Waters' to 'Floods', GST is phenomenal start to finish. Check out some of my favorite tracks below as well as a piece of an interview I did with Phil Anselmo a couple years back.

Top 10 Type O Negative Tunes [PLAYLIST]

I was cleaning out my closet yesterday and while I was throwing out a bunch of crap, I stumbled upon a copy of Type O Negative's 'Bloody Kisses' (on cassette -- who knew any of those still were in existence?) that I bought WAY back in 1994. And all of a sudden, I got hit with a wave of nostalgia.

Puff’s Playlist: Best Albums of 2014

2014 was a GREAT year for rock. We got phenomenal albums from the likes of Judas Priest, Godsmack, Seether, and a whole lot more. Which made my year end wrap up this year damn near impossible. Every time I'd get my list set, I'd remember another album that came out this year and have to start from scratch. So, the best I can say is congrats to Charm City Devils, Mastodon, Royal Blood, Priest, Kyng, Chevelle, Crobot, Hellyeah, and everyone else for putting together some AMAZING works this year. Unfortunately, you just didn't make the cut for my Top 5.

Puff’s Playlist: Christmas Music That Doesn’t Suck!

Don't know if you're aware of this or not, but the suicide rate world wide takes a HUGE jump every year around Christmas. They've never been able to nail down a concrete answer why, but I have a theory that it has to do a lot with the music. Seriously...how many times can you listen to Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' before sucking on a tailpipe seems like a reasonable way out? But not all Christmas music sucks. In fact, I have a WHOLE list of tracks to get you in the Christmas Spirit!

Puff’s Playlist: Rock Cover Tunes

I don't know why, but I love a good cover tune. The operative word is good. You can go to any bar in North America on a Saturday night and get 12 solid hours of bad cover tunes. But a good, well performed covered tune is a hard thing to beat. I guess I just really enjoy hearing a song we all know and love transform and become something different. Here is my list of favorite cover tunes. This is far from being a complete list. It's not in any order. Just some of my favorites.

Puff’s Playlist: The Best Of Jackyl

Summer time is upon us. Which means it's time to pop the top on a couple of cold ones and cut loose with some friends. But, in my humble opinion, it ain't summer time unless you make a stop at the Jackyl Bar and Grill. Not only does bad boy from Georgia, Jackyl kick out some killer tunes to drink to, but the man behind the mic and chainsaw, Jesse James Dupree, makes his own killer line of Whiskey. So, in celebration of summer and all things fun, here is my list of favorite Jackyl songs. PUH-POW!

In case you haven't noticed, Summer is upon us! It's hot as hell, sticky and the only thing that seems to make the Louisiana heat somewhat tolerable is cold beer with good friends. And if there is one thing that every party needs is some good tunes to drink to! So, while you are cracking a cold one with your peoples around the pool this summer, crank up these tunes and have a damn good time!
