Butcher Babies Bring the Noise – But No Electrical Tape – to the Riverside Warehouse [VIDEO, PHOTOS]

Obviously, that’s not a picture of the Butcher Babies. But, it’s the best I can do, because our “digital nazi” has issued a directive. He’s concerned we’ll get sued by sticking a copyrighted photo on one of our blogs…so, according to him, there’s only one place we can use to download photos. Unfortunately, that place doesn’t have a photo of the Butcher Babies, so what you have is the best I can do.

But, I digress. The Butcher Babies are coming to town. To the Riverside Warehouse to be exact…this Saturday night. They, along with Eyes Set to Kill are opening for the feature act, Scar the Martyr, the side project of Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison. Pretty killer lineup, huh? Of course, with the connection to Slipknot, there will be a lot of interest in Scar, but for about 40 minutes Saturday, I guarantee you that all eyes will be on the Butcher Babies.

Fresh off the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch, you can expect the Butcher Babies to bring more major league experience, and less electrical tape, to the stage these days.

If you’re familiar with the band, you already know that they’re named after a Plasmatics song, “Butcher Baby”, and are HUGE fans of the late Wendy O. Williams.

You also know that they (frontwomen Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Jason Klein, and drummer Chris Warren) bring volume, chaos, and destruction. And, in the past, a healthy supply of electrical tape. Electrical tape that Heidi and Carla placed strategically over their nipples, to cover their female fun stuff as they lost more and more clothing as the intensity of the show progressed.

Recently though, they’ve lost the tape and their penchant for semi-nudity. In a July interview with Artisan news, they said “it’s not needed anymore.” Now, they let the music, and their high-energy show, do the talking.

So don’t come to the Warehouse Saturday expecting the erotic Butcher Babies’ show of the past. Instead, come prepared for what rock critic Keith Valcourt calls “The Hottest Band in the World”, and expounds,

“The Butcher Babies deliver a loud crashing blend of heavy metal, punk and thrash that recalls Pantera, adding their stage show embodies the horror antics of Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. Carla and Heidi don’t merely sing: they assault the crowd with a blinding flash of aggression and abuse. And the crowd loves them for it.”

Not that we wouldn’t enjoy the electrical tape, too.

To put you in the proper frame of mind…”GIVE IT UP FOR THE BUTCHER BABIES!!”

Oh, by the way…The Butcher Babies have a new album called “Goliath”. Get it now. You don’t want to be the only one not singing along when they hit the stage. And you knew I was just kidding about the picture thing, right?
