Future WWE Hall of Famer and former UFC Heavyweight Champion has told UFC officials he is done with Mixed Martial Arts. While Lesnar has yet to make a public statement, officials have confirmed the reports and Lesnar has been pulled from the USADA drug testing pool.

Lesnar had a roller coaster MMA career. After leaving the WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2007, Lesnar quickly became a big box office attraction for the UFC from 2008 to 2011. Lesnar won the UFC Heavyweight Championship from MMA Legend Randy Couture and defended it twice against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

Lesnar retired from MMA the first time in 2011 following an intense battle with diverticulitis. He returned to the Octagon in 2016 to battle Mark Hunt. He won the fight but the decision was overturned after Lesnar failed an in competition drug test, testing positive for clomiphene and its metabolite, 4-hydroxyclomiphene. The failed drug test may be a black eye for an otherwise impressive career.

Lesnar’s run in the sport completely changed the perception of professional wrestling and wrestlers. Many wrestlers wanted to make the jump to MMA but were laughed off by promotions. Lesnar made everyone take professional wrestlers seriously. He pushed both WWE and UFC into the main stream, getting them both major coverage by “real” news outlets and ESPN. That will be his legacy.

While Lesnar’s MMA career may be done, he is still going strong in the WWE. He is set to take on Bill Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33.
