South Bossier Schools Take ‘Precautionary Measures’ During Search for Armed Man, Issue Lockdown
Sun City, Elm Grove Middle and Bellaire Elementary have issued a lockdown after a man from Shady Grove with reported mental health issues left his home at 2 a.m. carrying guns and ammo.
The man is believed to be headed to Colorado and Bossier police aren’t actively searching for him. It’s unknown at this time where the man, whose name hasn’t been released, is.
School officials said that the lockdown is only a precautionary measure, adding that all the children are safe and no direct threats were made to the schools. Classes are going on as usual, but the children are not being allowed to go outside and play for recess.
In the meantime, the school said resource officers and law enforcement officers are on the campuses and patrolling near the schools to be safe.
