It's described by Bossier City officials as the most ambitious road building project the city has ever undertaken. They're referring to the just announced $42 million extension of the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway, north to Benton Road.

The parkway now runs from south Bossier near the CenturyLink Center north to the Margaritaville Casino and the Louisiana Boardwalk.

City bosses and residents are hoping the new portion of the road will increase business for area merchants by making Benton Road, Airline Drive, and even I-220 more accessible. When construction is complete, the parkway will be only a mile and a half from that loop around the city.

Construction is set to begin in summer of 2017. The city has the $42 million already set aside for the project an is currently working to finalize the rights of way from the state and a few local businesses.
