On November 7th, the Bossier City Council will consider a proposed amendment that would allow residents to have and consume an alcoholic drink on public streets.  This would be a game changer for festivals and events that want to take advantage of the newly renovated downtown area (set to open November 25th).  The proposed rule would allow drinks in public areas from Bennett Street between Coleman Street and Barksdale Boulevard to Boardwalk Boulevard and Margaritaville Way - including the Louisiana Boardwalk.  As long as you had your drink in a plastic container between the hours of 7 a.m. to 2 a.m - you would be perfectly within the law.

According to the Shreveport Times, the new rules could be put into place as soon as November 21st.  Currently, the public consumption of alcoholic beverages in these areas is illegal.  If (or when) that changes, expect many new festivals and celebrations to be held in Downtown Bossier City.
