Management at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on New Boston Road in Texarkana, Texas, had to shut down the business for a short time last night due to a threatening phone call.

At around 7PM, Texas-side police responded to the call of a bomb threat after the store was contacted by an unidentified person, who said there was a bomb in the store. In a second call, the person demanded money from the store manager and threatened to 'start shooting people' if the demand was not met.

The store manager made the decision to close the store until he was confident the threat was a hoax and that there was no danger to the customers or employees. The store returned to business as usual after about half-an-hour.

The TTPD says it takes these types of threats seriously and will investigate the incident thoroughly. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the department at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
