Body Count have proven themselves to be a force for politically charged, invigorating heavy metal. Today, they released their new video for "This Is Why We Ride," coming from their most recent album Bloodlust.

The video follows frontman Ice-T as he travels around a dilapidated inner-city area with the band, recounting his youth and the struggles he faced. He speaks on the loss of life he's seen at a very young age because of his upbringing and where he grew up, and how it fueled his future drive for success in life. He speaks on being happy that he managed to make it out of the hood, but even with the effort he's put in, dozens of people still get killed every year over senseless violence.

Musically, the band is able to twist and turn between the overarching ballads of the music, and machine gun-like breakdowns of the chorus. It's a choice that embodies the daily struggle Ice speaks about, moving between sorrow and violence at the drop of a hat.

Body Count are slotted to crush the first ever Loudwire Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles coming Oct. 24. Black Sabbath icon Tony Iommi will be at the LMAs to accept the Courage Award, while legendary Judas Priest singer Rob Halford will be presented with the ‘Lemmy’ Lifetime Achievement Award and Sammy Hagar is receiving the Humanitarian honor.
