Best Places in Shreveport to Take Mom on Mother’s Day – Kayla’s Top Five

Sunday, May 8th is Mother’s Day. Of course you’ll have to get Mom the obligatory card…but what she really wants is to spend a little time with you. Let’s face it, we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Dear Ol’ Mom, so take a little time to do something extra special for your Mom this Mother’s Day.
In order to help you take the guess work out of what to do for Mom on her special day, here are my Top Five Places in Shreveport-Bossier to Take Mom on Mother’s Day – just don’t tell my Mom…it’s supposed to be a surprise!

5. Another Broken Egg Cafe
855 Pierremont Road Suite 132
Mom cooked you countless breakfasts as you were growing up, so maybe you should treat her to a nice breakfast or brunch. Another Broken Egg Cafe, located on Pierremont Road in the Pierremont Shopping Center, serves up egg-strordinary omelettes. My favorite is the Hey Rickey!!! They also have pancakes & waffles along with the typical breakfast fare; brunch items; and burgers & sandwiches. Sure, the menu is a bit pricey compared to IHOP or Waffle House, but it is WELL worth it. They are open from 7am – 2pm everyday.

4. Robinson Film Center
617 Texas Street
If your mom is a movie buff, then you should consider the Robinson Film Center on Texas Street in Downtown Shreveport. The Robinson Film Center features independent, international, and classic films. Right now playing at Robinson Film center: Win Win with Paul Giamatti and Amy Ryan, Jane Eyre starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender, and Of Gods and Men a French film with English subtitles. Not only do they feature great movies, they even have a great place to eat: Abby Singer’s Bistro.
3. Spa Day for Mom

Mom could use a little bit of pampering. It’s her day so why not take her to one of the many spa’s we have in Shreveport Bossier? Mom could get a pedicure and a manicure, or a rejuvenating massage. What about a facial? If you take her to a spa, she can pick what services she would enjoy and then you earn some major brownie points. Who’s mom’s favorite now?
- Destiny Day Spa in the Louisiana Boardwalk
- Spa Concepts in the Ashley Ridge Plaza in Shreveport
- My Spa My Way 700 E. Kings Hwy in Shreveport
- La Spa in the Eldorado Casino
- Aperio Salon 3835 Gilbert Drive in Shreveport

2. Painting with a Twist
1661 E. 70th St.
If your mom is the crafty type, or just likes to get creative while sipping on some wine, then Paining with a Twist is the perfect place to take her for Mother’s Day. At Painting with a Twist Mom will be able to create her own work of art – even if she has no artistic ability! They have different projects each day, from a fleur de lies to classic works of art. Mom can unleash her inner artist while sipping on a glass of wine.
1. Barksdale Air Force Base Air Show

109 Barksdale Blvd West, Barksdale AFB, LA
May 7th and 8th the pride of the US Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, will open its doors for a free fun filled day for the whole family. You and mom will get to see the home of the B-52 Bomber, tour the military installation, and view a spectacular air show with both military and aerobatic performances from the F-22 Demo Team, Tora, Tora, Tora, and many more!
So…my Mom’s got that to look forward to. What about you? What are you doing for your Mon on Mother’s Day?
