Things are thrilling in the Motley Crue camp, as the band gears up for the first-ever rock band residency in Las Vegas. However, despite all the hoopla and history making coinciding with the Feb. 3-19 stay in Sin City, singer Vince Neil said he is considering splitting from the band after the Vegas shows wrap.
Queens of the Stone Age, who last released an album in 2007 in the form of ‘Era Vulgaris’ and whose frontman and lead guitarist Josh Homme went on to moonlight in Them Crooked Vultures with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones, are creeping back into action.
Metallica played their fourth and final “intimate” anniversary show for fan club members last night (Dec. 10) at the Fillmore in San Francisco. The band has been performing and releasing previously unheard songs from 2008′s ‘Death Magnetic’ with each show as well as inviting some key guests from ‘Tallica’s history to perform with them. Last night, they debuted ‘Rebel of Babylon’ and brought former guitarist Dave Mustaine, ex-bassists Jason Newsted and Ron McGovney (he pre-dates Cliff Burton) and Hugh Tanner, who was in Leather Charm with James Hetfield and McGovney, on stage.
The always entertaining and well-spoken shock rocker Marilyn Manson made his ‘That Metal Show’ debut last night (Dec. 10), dressed in all black, of course. Manson wasn’t even on stage for two minutes before he began speaking about, uh, “entertaining” two girls at once and reverse erectile dysfunction. He was also sipping a glass of absinthe; he has his own brand of the liquor, called “Mansinthe.” Never a dull or non-subversive moment with Marilyn Manson.
The lineup for the second annual DimeBash has been announced. The show is a tribute to the late, great guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, who tragically was gunned down seven years ago today, Dec. 8, in Ohio while doing what he loved most: playing guitar. He was performing with his post-Pantera band Damageplan when a disturbed fan opened fire at close range and shot him.
