Apparently, The Georgia School System is Still Operating in 1859

Parents in Gwinnett County, Georgia, are OUTRAGED after students at Beaver Ridge Elementary School were given a worksheet with math problems based on slavery. I know what you’re thinking, “Wait a Cotton Picking minute, what did Puff say?” I know it sounds crazy, but here are some examples of these math questions… “Each tree had 56 oranges. If 8 slaves pick them equally, then how many did each slave pick?” And “If Frederick got two beatings per day, how many beatings did he get in one week?”

School officials, of course,  apologized profusely, saying teachers were trying to incorporate history into math class, but the questions didn’t go through the usual approval process. They said they’ll try to come up with more appropriate questions, perhaps after some diversity training classes for the teachers. Maybe they should try to give them a budget boost too since they are using worksheets from the 1800′s. Although, if they changed “slaves” to “wetbacks” I don’t think anyone would be offended.
