During discussion about the gas tax on the House floor, Shreveport State Representative Alan Seabaugh called for the firing of 3000 of 4700 Department of Transportation and Development workers.

As his blood pressure was apparently rising, Seabaugh told his colleagues he was disappointed that Republicans lobbied him harder than anyone to vote for the increased gas tax. He said "I'm a strong hell no".
