Sadly, it was announced this morning that iconic actor Sir Roger Moore passed away at the age of 89. According to statement posted by his family to Moore's Twitter account, Roger died in Switzerland following a short battle with cancer.

"We know our own love and admiration will be magnified many times over, across the world, by people who knew him for his films, his television shows and his passionate work for UNICEF which he considered to be his greatest achievement," his children posted online.

I for one, growing up, was a HUGE James Bond fan. Not only did I enjoy the stories and characters, but I was enthralled with the entire universe. I read the books, played the games, saw the movies...I just couldn't get enough. And to many, there are really only two Bonds that matter: Sean Connery and Roger Moore.

Connery is the original and most beloved, but Moore is a close second. Sure, a lot of his movies were uber cheesy and had elements of over the top camp...but there was just something about them that you couldn't help but love. 'Live and Let Die', 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and 'For Your Eyes Only' are classics that are watchable every time they are on TV. Even Moore's most unbearable Bond film was made tolerable because of Roger's comedic presence and larger than life performance.

His accomplishments, whether we're talking entertainment or his humanitarian work, can never be summed up in a single post online. His presence in the universe will greatly missed.
