2013 Oscar Winners!

2013 Oscar Winners
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

The 2013 Oscar winners were finally announced during the awards ceremony hosted by Seth MacFarlane on Sunday, February 24. After a lengthy awards season with Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ as the clear frontrunner, picking up Best Picture and Best Director titles every chance it had, the flick ended up snagging the big award of the evening — Best Picture!

Throughout the awards season, ‘Argo’ was scoring big with the 2013 Golden Globes, Producer’s Guild, Screen Actor’s Guild and the like. However, the film was not included among this year’s Oscar nominees for Best Director, giving some of the other contenders a chance for the spotlight. But even still, the film managed to walk away with the biggest award of the ceremony — that of Best Picture.

Some of the other names that took home top honors at the night’s event were Daniel Day-Lewis for his stirring performance in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln,’ Jennifer Lawrence’s leading lady gig in David O. Russell’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ and Anne Hathaway for Tom Hooper’s ‘Les Miserables,’ all of whom were projected to win in their respective categories.
